JAN 23 ALL AMERICAN BUCKS Thanks to an unprecedented amount of returning NFL talent, in tandem with a dynamic transfer portal group and an elite recruiting class, the Ohio State Buckeyes are going to be loaded in 2024.
As a result, the have already appeared at the top of the 2024 national title odds, Heisman Trophy odds, and many other way-too-early lists.
The latest of those lists, comes from ESPN, where Ohio State leads all teams with six players being named way-too-early All-Americans.
Four of those players – running back TreVeyon Henderson, offensive guard Donovan Jackson, defensive tackle Tyliek Williams and safety Caleb Downs, were all named to the first team.
Georiga and Michigan each had three first-team selections.
Meanwhile, running back Quinshon Judkins and defensive back Denzel Burke were both named to the second team.
JAN 15 HARBAUGH TO NFL? According to reports from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is set to interview with the Los Angeles Chargers for their vacant head coaching position.
“Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is meeting later today with the Los Angeles Chargers in his first interview of this hiring cycle, per league sources,” Schefter tweeted. “A decision is not expected to be imminent for either side. Harbaugh will be deliberate with any decision he makes about his future. The Chargers still are going through interview process and have other candidates that they plan to speak with.”
Harbaugh had been rumored to be eyeing the NFL for some time now, and after winning a national title at Michigan last week, those rumors began to heat up even more.
Harbaugh has beaten the Buckeyes in each of the last three seasons, taking Michigan to the playoffs in all three of those years.
JAN 6 JUDKINS IN COLOMBUS According to reports from On3 Ole Miss star transfer running back Quinshon Judkins is visiting Ohio State.
In his two years at Ole Miss, Judkins was arguably the best running back in the SEC rushing 545 times for 7,725 yards and 31 touchdowns with three receiving touchdowns.
He recently left Ole Miss after the Rebels won the Peach Bowl over Penn State, rushing 34 times for 106 yards.
JAN 2 HOWARD TO BUCKS? According to On3’s Pete Nakos, there is increasing buzz surrounding Ohio State and Kansas State transfer quarterback, Will Howard.
“Buy the buzz on Ohio State,” Nakos said. “I definitely think Will Howard and Ohio State have been in conversations. I can definitely see it coming together.”
The Buckeyes of course, are in search of an impact player at the quarterback position after the transfer of Kyle McCord, and the extremely underwhelming performances from Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz in the Cotton Bowl.
Last season with the Wildcats, Howard threw for 2,643 yards and 24 scores, and rushed 351 yards and nine touchdowns.
In his career at Kansas State, Howard has thrown for 5,786 yards, 48 touchdowns and 25 interceptions, and has rushed for 921 yards and 19 scores.
DEC 28 MEYERS ADVICE Former Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer has been in his fair share of big games and challenging situations.
As such, it gives him a unique qualification to give his opinion on what Ryan Day and the Buckeyes are facing on Friday night in the Cotton Bowl.
During his recent episode of Urban’s Take with Tim May Meyer did just that, imparting a piece of wisdom on to Day, ahead of his huge matchup with Missouri at AT&T Stadium.
“Find a way to get to 12-1. Empty the barrels, everything you possibly can do,” Meyer said. “It’s in a great state in the Cotton Bowl. It’s a great city, Dallas, it is gonna be the biggest show on that evening. Empty the barrels man. I mean, find a way to win this game.”
The Buckeyes will enter Friday night’s game as 3.5-point favorites. Kickoff is set for 8 pm Eastern time.
DEC 26 HARBAUGH ROASTED There is no love for the Michigan Wolverines in Colombus Ohio.
In fact, due to the controversial sign-stealing scandal that has unfolded over the last few months, the Wolverines have seemingly become one of the villains of college football.
On Christmas night, the long-time hit cartoon show The Simpsons took a shot at the Wolverines and their head coach Jim Harbaugh in reference to the scandal.
In the scene, one of the main characters, Bart Simpson, is seen teaching a class on cheating at ‘The Jim Harbaugh Center for Competitive Imbalance.’
