After an alleged nightclub brawl, an ex-Cardiff City coach was fired just days into his new role.

The ex-Arsenal man was goalkeeper coach with the Bluebirds under Steve Morison last season

Former Cardiff City coach Graham Stack

Maccabi Tel Aviv has terminated the contract of former Cardiff City coach Graham Stack following an altercation in a nightclub.

Stack, an ex-Arsenal goalkeeper, traveled to Israel just days ago to meet with Robbie Keane, the manager of Maccabi Tel Aviv, but he has already lost his position after the club issued a statement confirming they were investigating what transpired on Rothschild Boulevard in Tel Aviv over the weekend.

“Maccabi Tel Aviv is aware of the incident in which the club employee was involved,” the club said in a statement on Sunday. “The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time.”

On Monday they confirmed Stack would leave the club in a statement which read: “Maccabi Tel Aviv announces that Graham Stack, first team goalkeeping coach, has left the Club by mutual consent. The club have already begun the search to identify a replacement with a view to make an appointment as soon as possible.”

A video was published by Israeli news outlet Kan News which alleges that Stack was involved in a late-night brawl with another man in a Tel Aviv bar. They report Stack was arrested and then later released to house arrest before having his restrictive conditions removed.

However Stack’s lawyers say he was not actually arrested.

Lawyers Adi Carmeli and Yinon Heyman, representing Stack, told one.co.il: “The investigation is at the beginning and only at its end will it be possible to fully understand what really happened there. What is important to note, and not without reason, our client was not arrested but released with conditions and today the conditions of his release were also cancelled by the police, which speaks for itself.

“We are cooperating with the police investigation and giving them any information that will help them to find the truth, the partial video that was leaked online does not teach anything about what really happened and how the case will end at the end of the day.”

The incident remains under police investigation.

Stack was released by Cardiff in February. He was brought in as a goalkeeper coach under Steve Morison last year but was released by Sabri Lamouchi just days after the Frenchman arrived in the Welsh capital.

Stack then dropped down to coach Colchester United in March before it was announced he would leave the League Two club to link up with Keane out in Israel. Maccabi Tel Aviv announced on Wednesday that former Leicester City coach Graham Stowell has succeeded him in the role.
