With Jamarrion Gordon selecting the Tide on Saturday, Alabama Football received its first pledge in the 2026 recruiting class. Now, it has received its second commitment.
As they begin to assemble their class of 2026 recruits, the Crimson Tide have secured the commitment of Georgia native Dorian Barney, a four-star recruit.
Barney is the third-best cornerback in the nation and the 41st-ranked player overall. Barney was selected by the Tide over a number of other colleges, including South Carolina and Georgia.
In the 2026 recruiting class, Alabama Football went from having no commitments to possessing the fifth-ranked class. Being the only position coach with a pledge for 2026, new defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist is off to a fast start on the recruiting trail, having secured his second commitment in as many days.
Fellow 2026 prospect Jamarrion Gordon, who began to advocate for Barney after committing to Alabama, helped secure Dorian Barney.
After awarding Barney a scholarship in March and upset the favorite in Georgia just before Barney committed, the Tide gained a lot of ground in this recruiting.
The Tide will need to wait until this class of 2026 signs in order to ward off possible suitors, but in Barney, they may have acquired the greatest cornerback in the country as he is already the perfect size going into his junior season.
Just in time for summer, Crimson Tide is heating up.
The Alabama football squad is gathering steam as they prepare for a busy summer of recruiting. Over the next few years, as the Tide begins to assemble both its 2026 and 2025 recruiting classes, it will host a plethora of the best players in the country.
It is significant because the 2026 recruiting class will be the first that Kalen DeBoer will coach without Nick Saban’s assistance.
