The Browns announced on Tuesday that rookie cornerback Cameron Mitchell and left lineman Jedrick Wills Jr. had been placed on injured reserve.

There were fears that Wills’ injury may end the season when he was taken off the field on Sunday. However, the Browns got some good news, as Wills is only anticipated to miss roughly six weeks due to a high-grade MCL sprain, a low-grade PCL sprain, and bone bruising.

Mitchell is hurting in his hamstrings. A minimum of four games must be missed by players on injured reserve.

After signing off the practice squad, wide receiver James Proche II and tackle Geron Christian will now be included on the 53-man roster.

Proche is expected to take over as the team’s returner after returning six punts for 55 yards against the Cardinals on Sunday.

A sixth-round pick by Baltimore in 2020, Proche appeared in 43 games for the Ravens.

Christian played for the Commanders, Texans, and Chiefs after being selected by Washington in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. On Halloween, the 6-foot-5, 315-pound lineman signed with the Browns.

Both of the Browns’ starting tackles are currently out of the game. The Browns’ victory over Cincinnati in the first week of the season ended with a season-ending injury to right tackle Jack Conklin.

Conklin was replaced by rookie Dawand Jones, who performed admirably. The Browns may decide to switch Jones to left tackle or just use their swing tackle, James Hudson III, to take Wills’ place.

We’ll take care of all those problems this week, head coach Kevin Stefanski said on Monday. After talking with the coaches, we can practice, but there are other options.

Since the Browns picked Wills with the 10th overall pick in the 2020 draft, he has made 53 starts. They exercised his fifth-year option last offseason, securing a $14.124 million contract for him in 2024.

Linebacker Sione Takitaki stated on Monday, I thought it was more serious than the six weeks. That is good news, then. And he’ll go after rehab and come back stronger. Excellent news for the group.

This season, Mitchell—a fifth-round selection—has played in all eight games. On Sunday, he began in the slot against the Cardinals, replacing Greg Newsome II, who was sidelined due to a groin issue.

In addition, the Browns cut tight end Devin Asiasi off the practice squad and added wide receiver Trinity Benson, safety Vincent Gray, and lineman Justin Murray.
