Miami Open: So Sad, Jannik Sinner beats Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets But Could Not win men’s title Due to………

Jannik Sinner wins the men’s title at the Miami Open after defeating Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets.

Jannik Sinner of Italy won the Miami Open men’s singles championship with ease, defeating Grigor Dimitrov in just three sets.

Winner of the Australian Open Sinner, runner-up in Miami in 2021 and 2023 before, defeated the Bulgarian 6-3 6-1.

The 22-year-old wins his third title of 2024 after triumphing in Melbourne and Rotterdam.

Sinner will jump to a career-high second in the global rankings after losing just one game this season.

“It has been a very special week for me, I have faced different kinds of situations on the court and different opponents,” he stated to Sky Sports.

“Today I had a lot of energy. I am ecstatic to be ranked second in the world. It’s only a number; what matters most to me is attempting to follow my strategy, and I was able to do so.”

Sinner becomes the first Italian to enter the top two since the ATP rankings were originally released in 1973, surpassing Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.

With Dimitrov serving flawlessly and Sinner giving up just one point on serve throughout the first three games of the opening set, the 32-year-old Bulgarian, who was competing in his first Miami final, had the first chance to advance.

However, Sinner survived Dimitrov’s break point, and the younger player took over. In the next game, he broke service and made the world number twelve save two more break points before sealing the set with a spectacular backhand down the line.

After dropping just three points when serving in the second set, Sinner maintained his dominant play and won the match on his first championship point with a backhand winner.

After making it to the final and defeating German fourth seed Alexander Zverev and top seed Alcaraz, Dimitrov will now be ranked ninth in the world. He hasn’t appeared in the top 10 since 2018.

“I feel like a winner even though I’m not the one who won today,” Dimitrov remarked.

American Danielle Collins defeated Elena Rybakina, the fourth seed from Kazakhstan, 7-5, 6-3, on Saturday to win the women’s title.
