Eddie Howe, the head coach of Newcastle, is still a fan of Carlos Alcaraz, 20, and FootballTransfers has been informed that the two parties have discussed a summer transfer.
Eddie Howe was considering signing the Southampton midfielder during the last transfer window, and Benfica and AC Milan also expressed a strong interest in the player.
Despite Southampton’s £30 million asking price deterring Newcastle from moving further with a move in the January transfer window after making an offer to the player’s side, there is still hope.
The young player made an impression on the head coach of Newcastle when he played as an inside forward in Southampton’s 3-1 loss to Howe’s team in the northeast in April and when he played on the left side of a midfield three during the Saints’ 2-1 loss to the club at St James’ Park in January.

Alcaraz moved to Southampton in January for £12 million from Racing Club. He played in 18 Premier League games, scoring four goals and dishing out two assists.
The Saints player has participated in six Championship contests so far this season, but the southern team has struggled thus far, holding onto the 15th spot in the standings.
When Alcaraz made his Racing Club debut in 2020 at the age of 17, he first gained notoriety in Argentina. The midfielder appeared in 83 games for the team and contributed significantly to their Primera Division runner-up finish the previous season
When he joined Southampton earlier this month, Alcaraz remarked, I’m really thrilled to be joining this club.
I wanted to do it because I knew it would be a new challenge for me and for my career, and I also knew I would be joining a wonderful club if I did.I am eager to begin practicing and playing, and I am willing to sacrifice everything for this team and this jersey. I’m eager to get to know everyone of my colleagues and am prepared to give it my all.
