Patrick Queen shares story of Mike Tomlin yelling that he's not a Raven - Baltimore Beatdown

Before their December meeting of the previous season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had defeated the Baltimore Ravens four games in a row. Inside linebacker Patrick Queen was among the players in the locker room who felt the weight of it.

Many, including Queen, remarked, “Until you beat the Steelers, you’re not a Raven.”

However, Queen was the target of that catchphrase years prior to his debut against the Steelers in Week 8 of 2020. The one giving the speech, perhaps? Mike Tomlin is the head coach of the Steelers.

“You’re not a Raven,” [Steelers Head Coach] Mike Tomlin yelled at me while I was standing on their sidelines during my first season. It’s not you, Raven. It’s not supposed for you to be there. You do not belong to them. Consequently, there’s something personal every time I play them.

Whatever Tomlin intended to convey, Queen interpreted it as insulting, and he carries it with him every time he interacts with the black and gold.

“It doesn’t matter if he was kidding. It doesn’t matter if he was sincere. When all is said and done, you’re telling me that I’m not a Raven while I’m on the sidelines. That is quite discourteous.

Queen has been on the winning side of this rivalry for a while now. By 2022, he had a 0-4 record. However, the group and Queen ended their four-game losing run in 2022.Unfortunately, the Steelers defeated them at M&T Bank later on, thus they were unable to begin a run of their own. Queen’s pitiful record against them has continued to bother him.

seated 1–5 in opposition to them. It’s by no means a good record. Our goal is to make that different. That has been discussed. All I wanted to do was get that record caught up. It’s also clear that all of those games were decided by a small margin of victory, and we are aware of our mistakes from those contests. Right now, we’re relying on only making amends for our previous errors.
