The Reason Serie A accolade sees Lewis Ferguson send Rangers reminder…

Lewis Ferguson had played for the Rangers before leaving to further his career and joining Bologna under the bright lights of Serie A.

Though few would have predicted the 24-year-old to be leading a squad in one of the top leagues in the world, he was always a talented player.Lewis Ferguson has carried on from his incredible first season, where he showed off his goal-scoring ability for Bologna, earning a spot on Whoscored.com’s squad of the month, a personal achievement to be proud of.

Lewis Ferguson rubs Rangers nose in it again with Serie A accolade

The Scotland international has been named to Whoscored.com’s Serie A team of the month, and his consistency has led to interest from Napoli and AC Milan.

Someone in Auchenhowie, if they are still there, will be hating themselves for releasing 14-year-old Lewis Ferguson, but Bologna will not be complaining.

They stand to earn significantly from their alleged £3 million investment, and they couldn’t have expected to receive such a good player.

Ferguson has never looked back since breaking into the Bologna starting XI, going from strength to strength with his almost throwback style of midfield play.

You wouldn’t describe him as an all-around midfield enforcer or a deep-lying playmaker, nor would you say that he is the kind to control the pace of a game with his passing.

He is an all-out, dynamic, physical presence, and—perhaps most importantly—a goal threat from set pieces and open play.

We’ll never know if the £3 million cost was overstated or if Aberdeen could have handled Rangers as easily as they handled Bologna.

He was one of the most reliable performers in Serie A, as evidenced by his recent form, and would have still been valuable for an additional million or two.
