The Las Vegas Raiders are in a position to acquire several key players to the roster in the 2024 NFL Draft, which will enable new head coach Antonio Pierce to carry out his coaching philosophy.
With eight draft picks, the first one taken by Las Vegas is at position 13 overall. The Raiders might go in a couple different directions, so the roster has a lot of needs, especially offensively.
Putting money into the offensive line is always a good idea, especially for Pierce, who has stated he wants to play aggressive, physical football up front. But with no long-term option at quarterback, Las Vegas has the most need at that position.
One name that has been associated with the Silver and Black is Spencer Rattler of South Carolina, who the Raiders are said to have expressed interest in prior to his Pro Day through Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz.
South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler still has a promising chance to be selected in the second round. The positions of the team quarterbacks differ, and sometimes Rattler is ranked higher than anticipated.
Rattler may be taken later in the draft by Las Vegas, which is reportedly targeting a cornerback or an offensive lineman. Rattler is a potential target for Las Vegas at No. 44 or No. 77 because he is thought to be a Day 2 choice.
Rattler, who is on the smaller side for an NFL quarterback at 6’0″ and 210 pounds, yet displayed patience and toughness over his four years of college.
Even though would much rather sit in the pocket and wait for plays to develop, he is also a competent runner when the pocket collapses.
Rattler makes sense as a dart toss if the Raiders don’t move up in the first round to choose one of the highly sought-after quarterbacks.
Even though he would probably trail Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew in his debut season, he could eventually be able to turn into a reliable starter.
Looking forward to contending for the starting quarterback position with the Raiders, Aidan O’Connell
After Pierce took over as temporary coach halfway through the 2023 season, O’Connell entered and demonstrated genuine flashes of his professional abilities.
Despite Minshew’s signing with the Raiders via free agency, O’Connell remains optimistic about his chances of competing for the starting role.
