The linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers received two heavy fines.
Pittsboro, PA Due to his behaviour during the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 5 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, linebacker T.J. Watt was fined twice by the NFL.
The NFL declared that Watt, who had just finished a game-winning sack against Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, had been penalised $13,659 for removing his helmet. For a play against wide receiver Zay Flowers in which Watts made his first contact with Flower’s helmet, he was also fined $11,473.
Although Watt was not tagged for either violation during the game, the sanctions were imposed by the NFL after the game. The activity in the play where he took off his helmet took place after the play, so it had no bearing on how the sack turned out.
Regarding Watt’s hit on Flowers, a video of Watt hitting Flowers while he’s trying to make a catch has gone viral. Watt intended to hit the ball out of the receiver’s hands, but instead it struck the helmet.
After several weeks of various fines from the team, Watt was the lone Steeler disciplined this week.
