Tuesday night, as the NHL’s Penguins began their season, contempt for Matt Canda, the offensive coordinator for the Steelers, spread to PPG Paints Arena.
Eleven days remain until the Steelers return to action, but Pittsburgh sports fans wasted little time in demanding the firing of the team’s coach when the Penguins lost 4-2 against the Blackhawks. They erupted in cries of “Fire Canada.”

Jenna Harner, a sports reporter for WPXI, captured the chanting during the second period, when the Pens were leading 1-0.
“Fire Canada” has served as something of a rallying cry for disgruntled Steelers supporters who are tired of their team’s ineffective offence.

“Right now, this city doesn’t have many people that are like Matt Canada. On “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic stated, “It’s probably the most hated person in the city.” It makes me sad to say. Although he is making an effort to carry out his duties, little progress has been made.
