PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers are dealing with two key injuries as they open Week 8 and begin preparation for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Inside linebacker Cole Holcomb and running back Anthony McFarland have been designated by head coach Mike Tomlin as players to watch this week as they prepare to play this weekend.
Holcomb went down with an ankle injury in Week 7 against the Los Angeles Rams. He was able to return and finish the game, but Tomlin said he’ll need attention at the early portions of the week. Whether or not he plays against the Jaguars will depend on how much he participates in practice and how well.
During his recuperation period from Injured Reserve, McFarland is about to begin his second week of practice. The running back missed the last five games with a knee injury and now has 14 days to be activated back to the 53-man roster. If he’s not activated in that time, he’ll be shut down for the remainder of the season.
