Comeback Story: Cowboys Sign Former Steelers WR Martavis Bryant
PITTSBURGH — The NFL comeback is officially complete. Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is back on an NFL roster.
The former fourth-round pick has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Bryant was reinstated by the NFL last week after a four-year suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. During his time away, Bryant spent time playing in the CFL and XFL.
The 31-year-old played for the Steelers from 2014 to 2017, catching 126 passes for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft for a third-round pick. Pittsburgh used that pick to draft quarterback Mason Rudolph, and then used their own third-round selection to pick offensive tackle Chuks Okorafor.
According to The Score’s Jordan Schultz, Bryant is signing to Dallas’ practice squad. He will have the chance to prove himself in a receiver room with Michael Gallup, Brandin Cooks, and Ceedee Lamb.
