Pittsburgh Steelers duo Diontae Johnson and Minkah Fitzpatrick got into a war of words following a 13-10 defeat to the Cleveland Browns as the franchise prepares to face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12.
ESPN learned that Cameron Heyward and TJ Watts had to break the pair apart, with Watts stressing that they had to remain united if they hope to make the postseason picture in the NFL’s current season.
The news comes after Matt Canada, their offense coordinator, was fired for poor results. Despite the franchise maintaining a winning record for the campaign, the Steelers only posted 77 passing yards for 10 points against the Browns as they seem devoid of inspiration and ideas.
The Steelers look to transform their fortunes against the Bengals on November 26 in their Thanksgiving fixture, which is scheduled to begin at 13:00 EST or 10:00 PST.
Players mourning Canada
Even though they rank 28th for points per game and yards per game, the players seem saddened that Canada lost his job.
“You hate to see it,” Steelers quarterback Kenny Pickett told media. “You don’t want to see one of your coaches lose their job. We all got to be better.”
The new offensive coordinator is Eddie Faulkner, who briefly played for the organization in 2001 before heading to Canada. He’s been a part of the franchise since 2019 and served as the running back coach before his new role.
“It’s a little bit bittersweet,” Faulkner said of the promotion. “In that way because when you sit back and you see all that goes on, and all that’s being said about him and the offense, we all – and I’m speaking for the offense when I say this to staff – we all felt that we’re all part of that.
“Nobody’s absolving themselves from anything that’s happened in that regard. We feel like we let him down.
