Christian Parker, the defensive backs coach for the Broncos, is anticipated to depart Denver and join the defensive coaching staff of the Philadelphia Eagles, sources informed The Denver Post on Monday.

Parker was a defensive quality control coach for the Green Bay Packers for two seasons before joining the Broncos for the last three.

The 32-year-old coach had interviews last month for defensive coordinator roles in New England and Green Bay, but both positions went to different applicants.

Vic Fangio was just appointed defensive coordinator for the Eagles. Parker was a member of Fangio’s staff when the Broncos finished 7-10 in 2021 as their head coach.

Parker was employed by Texas A&M and Notre Dame as a defensive analyst before entering the NFL. He was also Norfolk State’s and Virginia State’s defensive backs coach.

Vance Joseph, the defensive coordinator, complimented Parker on many occasions. Parker was referred to by Joseph as a “star” and a “wonderful partner to work with” prior to the 2023 season commencing.

Joseph said, “He’s clever, guy.” “He is intelligent; he puts in a lot of effort, and his players like working for him.”

Two of Parker’s defensive backs, safety Justin Simmons (AP, second team) and cornerback Pat Surtain II (NFLPA, Pro Football Writers), were named All-Pros this past season.
