You’re out: Emotional support alligator banned from Phillies game
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (AP) — A Phillies fan and his emotional support animal, an alligator named WallyGator, were denied entrance to watch Philadelphia host Pittsburgh.
Posts on social media on Wednesday showed the gator outside the stadium on a leash wearing a harness with his name on it.
Joie Henney of Jonestown, in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, is the owner of WallyGator, a working emotional support alligator. The reptile has a big presence on Instagram and TikTok.
Henney spoke to The Philadelphia Inquirer last year and said WallyGator helps him battle depression and that “he likes to give hugs.” Henney said then that the gator had never bitten anyone.
The alligator has even been a ring bearer in a wedding.
The Phillies website has information about Citizens Bank Park’s support animal policy. According to this, “Service animals, guide dogs, and service animals in training are all welcome. All other animals are prohibited.”
