Packers Injury Report: 2 starters ruled out vs. Panthers on Sunday
In addition to the seven Green Bay Packers who were labelled as questionable for the crucial game, three more were listed as dubious on Friday.
You’ve been severely let down if you were expecting the Green Bay Packers to finally get healthy this week. The Packers declared on Friday that safety Darnell Savage (shoulder) and inside linebacker De’Vondre Campbell (neck) would not play this Sunday against the Carolina Panthers. Notably, Campbell said last week on social media that he would no longer play through ailments. Subsequently, head coach Matt LaFleur declared that Campbell would get a week before the team made a decision. This week, Campbell and Savage did not take part in any of the practices.
The team also decided not to include tight end Luke Musgrave, who is currently listed as injured. Running back Emanuel Wilson (shoulder), receiver Christian Watson (hamstring), and lineman Luke Tenuta (ankle) are all rated as doubtful for their game versus Carolina. Tenuta and Wilson, like Musgrave, are on the injured reserve but are actively practicing with the Packers.
On their final injury report of the week, Green Bay designated seven players as questionable in addition to the six out/doubtful players. These players include defensive lineman T.J. Slaton (knee/foot), receiver Dontayvion Wicks, safety Rudy Ford (back), running back AJ Dillon (thumb), cornerback Robert Rochell (neck), and receiver Jayden Reed (toe/chest). Recall that Savage, Dillon Watson, and Alexander were the Packers’ inactives last week who weren’t healthy scratches.
Given that he did not receive an injury designation for practice on Wednesday or Thursday, Ford’s issue is new. With Savage already ruled out, if he missed time, the Packers would have rookie seventh-round pick Anthony Johnson Jr. and Jonathan Owens as their starting safety tandem.
Although there seems to be a sickness going around Carolina’s locker room, the Panthers appear to be getting better as the week goes on. Only three players—safety Sam Franklin Jr. (quadricep/back), tight end Ian Thomas (ankle), and linebacker Claudin Cherelus (knee)—were declared questionable prior to the team’s encounter with the green and gold.
