Andrew Quarless Arrested for Publicly Discharging a Gun

Andrew Quarless sentenced in gun incident

Following an altercation, Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless fired a revolver twice into the ground, leading to his arrest in South Beach early on Saturday morning.

According to Tim Elfrink of the Miami New Times, the incident on Independence Day happened at approximately 5:30 a.m. Ernesto Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department, verified the arrest, which happened after Quarless allegedly tried to leave the scene.

More information on the incident was provided by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk:

Quarless pulled out the revolver and fired two rounds, one of which went straight up into the sky, according to the police report. Quarless fired the rounds “in an attempt to emphasise his power and manhood,” one of the ladies subsequently told police.

The police were contacted by the parking valet. Quarless allegedly tried to conceal the rifle in a potted plant after exiting the Porsche, according to the police report. The officers located the firearm and compared it to the shells they discovered in the garage.

The New Times reports that he was formally accused of firing a gun in public.

The Packers issued the following comment regarding the situation, as reported by ESPN’s Jason Wilde: “We are aware of the matter…and are in the process of obtaining more information.”

“I spoke with Andrew. According to Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Packers head coach Mike McCarthy stated on July 29 that “He was here today.” “After his encounter, we had a lengthy discussion. It is a court proceeding. He erred in judgement. Both of us are disappointed, myself included. We’re addressing the error that he made.

Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com revealed on July 6 that the Packers want to hold onto Quarless and will not let him go.

About to begin his sixth season with the Packers, Quarless is getting ready. In 55 career games, the Penn State graduate has recorded 85 catches for 909 yards and six scores. This fall, he was considering taking on a bigger role in the offence.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, ace quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Packers expressed his admiration for his development during the team’s minicamp last month:
