Packers release Dallin Leavitt and sign Patrick Taylor from the Patriots practice squad
Brian Gutekunst, general manager of the Packers, made the announcements on Monday. In addition, the Packers cut linebacker Christian Young from their practice squad and dismissed safety Dallin Leavitt, who had been on their main roster.
Between 2021 and 2023, Taylor participated in 27 regular-season games for the Packers, including four this year. During those three seasons, the 25-year-old Taylor had 44 carries for 151 yards and a score.
About three weeks after joining the Packers’ practice squad on October 17, 25-year-old Robinson was let go.
As a rookie in 2020, Robinson ran for 1,070 yards and seven touchdowns with the Jacksonville Jaguars, marking his best-ever pro performance.
In the Packers’ 23-20 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, two of the team’s three running backs sustained injuries: Aaron Jones hurt his knee late in the second quarter, and Emanuel Wilson damaged his shoulder. The only running back available to the Packers due to injury was AJ Dillon.
There’s not much time for the Packers (4-6) to prepare for their Thursday night trip to Detroit (8-2). According to the Packers’ injury report, which was made public on Monday, if the club had practiced that day, neither Wilson nor Jones would have been able to play.
After playing with the Raiders from 2018 to 21, Leavitt, 29, joined the Packers last season and quickly became a valuable special teams member. During the first kickoff on Sunday, Leavitt was called for holding and unsportsmanlike behaviour. As a result, Green Bay started its first play from its 8-yard line.
