Just Now: Rookies Get Jersey Numbers from the Packers…………………

Packers Give Rookies Jersey Numbers

GREEN BAY, Wisconsin: The 13 draft selections and 12 undrafted players selected by the Green Bay Packers were given jersey numbers. The HR department gave us one task that was at least somewhat intriguing.

The Packers, who have expressed a desire to add a veteran to a wide corps full of rookies and second-year players, are at the top of the list. One clear veteran who is still unsigned is Randall Cobb.

But the Packers selected Malik Heath, an undrafted receiver, with his No. 18.

As for the veterans they would never “shut the door” on, to use general manager Brian Gutekunst’s phrase, kicker Mason Crosby (No. 2) and safety Adrian Amos (No. 31) are still available. Marcedes Lewis’ No. 89 is the same.

Note that there is a limited supply of jersey numbers. Six jersey numbers are retired, the Packers have 88 players on their roster, and it goes without saying that no player was going to wear Aaron Rodgers’ No. 12.
