Has the Ohio State football team mastered NIL at this point?

Has the Ohio State football team found out how to make the most use of NIL money after adding a few high-profile recruits and snagging several big-name players off the transfer portal in the last month?

In the world of collegiate football, NIL money is still relatively new. It still has a hint of the Wild West about it. Florida State recently received harsh criticism for not adhering to the vague NIL regulations. We criticized the Ohio State football team for improperly employing NIL in the past and then gave them too much credit.

Has the Ohio State football team finally figured out how to spend NIL money properly? With a plethora of talented players returning and the Buckeyes adding a ton of talent through the transfer portal and recruiting,? For once, are they really using a tool correctly?

Quinshon Judkins could only come to Columbus if the Buckeyes were able to offer him a sizable NIL contract, in my opinion. The defensive tackle prospect, Eddrick Houston, is in the same boat. It’s excellent that these collectives appear to have their act together.

What does this imply going ahead, then? It implies that the Buckeyes can still recruit nationwide. They can also use the transfer portal more frequently, as they have since the Cotton Bowl concluded. If they soon added another guy from Alabama, I wouldn’t be surprised.

Additionally, it guarantees Ohio State won’t fall behind. The best way to use their NIL funds has already been determined by other programs. Using NIL money, Miami lured a couple of recruits from Ohio State in the previous round. That might have taught the Buckeyes a better way to go about things.

NIL may not be to everyone’s taste, but it is here to stay. Maybe the NCAA will finally present legislation that will establish guidelines for NIL for each program. Currently, each state makes the majority of the rules. We’ll observe whether that alters anytime soon.
