Ohio State Signs 20 Letters of Intent with the National
Columbus, Ohio –On the first day of the early signing period, Wednesday saw the signing of 20 high school athletes who intend to continue their academic and football careers with the Ohio State Buckeyes. This class of recruits is expected to be rated in the top 10. A five-star prospect and eighteen other players with four-star ratings lead the class. The 247Sports aggregate ranks Ohio State’s class as a whole No. 5 nationwide. With a national average star rating of 93.57, it ranks third.
In a span of 13 years, Ohio State will have produced 12 top-10 classes. There are seven prospects in the national top 100 and it’s the best class in the Big Ten.
There are ten players on defence and ten players on offence in the Buckeyes class. There are two cornerbacks, four defensive linemen, three safeties, and one linebacker. On the opposite side of the ball, Ohio State signed a quarterback, a tight end, four offensive linemen, and four wide receivers—three of whom are ranked in the top 10 at the position by 247Sports.
On Wednesday, the Buckeyes signed seven of the top eight-ranked athletes in the state of Ohio. These include Findlay’s Luke Montgomery, an offensive lineman ranked first overall in the state, and No. 2 overall pick Jermaine Matthews, a wide receiver from Cincinnati. Along with signing four players from Florida, two from Georgia, and one each from Connecticut, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, South Dakota, and Texas, the Buckeyes also ventured south.
