Ohio State Buckeyes Hire Chip Kelly as Offensive Coordinator…
Following the departure of Bill O’Brien, the Ohio State Buckeyes quickly found his replacement by hiring Chip Kelly as their next offensive coordinator.
With the news that former Ohio State offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien was scheduled to take over as head coach at Boston College, one of the most renowned coordinator positions in all of college football quickly became available.
It didn’t take long for the Buckeyes’ to find O’Brien’s replacement, though. On Friday, Chip Kelly was appointed the new offensive coordinator at OSU.
On the surface, it may seem like a step down for Kelly, who has served as the head coach for the UCLA Bruins since 2018. However, the reality is that Ohio State is one of the most prestigious football programs in America. This hiring might potentially open the door for Kelly to be regarded as a head coaching possibility for the Buckeyes if they were to finally decide to move on from Ryan Day.
