The 2023–24 season has started off well for Nottingham Forest, as they have nine points after eight games. The Reds now have a solid foundation and are seated in 13th place in the Premier League rankings.
Forest fans can evaluate their options now that the second international break is here. Here, we’ve examined five areas where the Reds have succeeded thus far this year.
Recruiting Ibrahim Sangare
For perhaps about £30 million, the Ivorian joined the team. Of course, he hasn’t quite reached the pinnacle of his profession just yet, but he’s settling in well to the Premier League.
It may take some time for these deals to pay off. Sangare is undoubtedly a very gifted football player, and at the City Ground, he has been a force on defense from the start.
Sangare will say more in the future. However, the club should be commended for successfully completing a signing of a player that topped the shortlist during the summer.
Fill the squad
It was a blow to lose Brennan Johnson. His absence has, strangely enough, made the group appear a little stronger. With his sale, Steve Cooper was able to test the market, and the team now has a decent appearance.
Every position has at least two good players for Forest. These days, the park is full with possibilities, so Cooper’s challenge is to move things in the correct way.
Compared to last summer, Forest’s transfer window was less haphazard and more deliberate this time. Now that Cooper has the best team Trentside has seen in years, the team will hopefully be able to advance.
Continue playing and be braver.
Last season, Forest had terrible road performance. They only managed to score eight points while away from the City Ground, nearly jeopardizing their place in the Premier League.
They have four points this year on the road, and the quality of their play has been impressive. The Reds have competed despite losses to Arsenal, Manchester United, and Manchester City.
Perhaps it is a little unfortunate that Forest didn’t earn a few more points for their efforts. However, there is unquestionably evidence of advancement, which is welcome at this point.
switching Nicolas Dominguez for Remo Freuler
One of the deals of the century could be this one! Even though Forest paid Bologna a price to sign Dominguez, it’s amazing that he ended up switching places with Freuler.
No offense to the Swiss international, but he just failed to adjust to the way Forest played. Cooper made the decision to let him depart the club this summer knowing that.
Dominguez is a youthful athlete who has the appearance of giving everything on the field. He appears to be a significant talent, and Forest did a remarkable job in acquiring him.
Murillo is released
When it comes to developing young players, Cooper is a maestro. Therefore, the Reds’ decision to recruit Brazilian wonderkid Murillo in the summer came as no surprise.
Cooper made a wise choice when he decided to give him some playing time. After playing well for 90 minutes against Brentford, he kept his starting position for Saturday’s encounter against Crystal Palace.
Murillo appears to be a worthy addition to the team. Given his two appearances to far, it would appear that the others should kick him off the team.
