Grate Set Back: Nottingham Forest promotion-winner finally finds new club after his release for…

Following his release from the City Ground in July, former Nottingham Forest forward Lyle Taylor has at last secured a new position.

The 33-year-old has joined Reds loanee Dale Taylor at Adams Park after agreeing to a short-term contract with League One team Wycombe Wanderers.

Following his free transfer from Charlton Athletic in 2020, Taylor made 61 appearances for Forest, scoring eight goals, including a memorable late double against Bristol City.

Since the 2021–2022 season, when he played the second half of that campaign on loan at Birmingham City, he has not made an appearance for the Reds.

Taylor finally finds a new club

The 33-year-old, who left the City Ground in the summer, has been without a club for four months, despite stints at other clubs.

During the previous few months, Taylor was put on trial for a few weeks at Sheffield Wednesday; however, manager Xisco Munoz made the decision not to sign the striker.

Wycombe manager Matt Bloomfield expressed his happiness at finalizing a deal for the seasoned striker once he arrived.

We had been talking for a while; I’ve always had a lot of respect for him.

With injuries to Sam Vokes and Brandon Hanlan at this particular period, I believe it was the one position we needed to shore up, and Lyle brings genuine quality and a burning desire to show everyone he still has it.

Wonderful news for Taylor

Despite the fact that neither party’s expectations were met during his stay at City Ground, the 33-year-old did provide the Forest supporters with a number of memorable moments.

With Taylor taking the game by storm after entering, his two goals at Ashton Gate felt very much like the beginning of the Steve Cooper era.

Now that he’s on a new team, maybe he can start playing the way that all Forest supporters know he can and resume his goal-scoring style.
