Jamaal Lascelles, the captain of Newcastle United, discussed his team’s 2-2 draw with West Ham United.
The center back provided perspective from the locker room on the game, which the Magpies dominated in terms of possession.
“I felt like we had quite a lot of control in the game, especially second half,” Lascelles said to reporters following the victory.
“Conceding is really disheartening, then. We’ve had some successful weeks, so the break could be just what we need to recharge and bring certain guys back to full strength.
“It could have been mentally taxing to turn around so soon after PSG’s high the other night. In particular, the first half was based on individual efforts, but in the second half, we came out and ought to have won the match.
