Even at the end of 2022–2023, Sandro Tonali’s first opponent appearance at San Siro since leaving AC Milan will take place this evening.
Many thought Tonali was the finest option out of the team from the previous years to go on and become a “bandiera” of Milan – a legend in the club’s history who would benefit from the supporters’ unwavering love and devotion.
Then, everything abruptly changed. Tonali’s devotion to Milan cannot be questioned on the one hand, but everyone had to pause after Newcastle made a €70 million bid and after the player received a significant pay raise.
