Newcastle make contact with Italian international after impressive six months – Report

Italian outlet TuttoMercato have reported that Newcastle have ‘set their sights’ on Galatasaray star Nicolo Zaniolo after an impressive six months at the club.

Roma: Nicolo Zaniolo could be a future Ballon d'Or winner says Fabio Capello - AS USA
Zaniolo only joined the Turkish side from Roma in January but has had a very positive impact, leaving the Super Lig champions unwilling to part ways with their star man.

Galatasaray have already rejected a bid of around €25m for the attacking midfielder, so Newcastle will have to a make strong offer if we are serious about acquiring their star man.

It’s believed that the Magpies have made contact with the side after ‘gathering information’ on the 24-year-old and being impressed on his time in Turkey.

Several Serie A clubs are also interested in bringing Zaniolo back to his home country, but their pursuit is made more difficult due to Newcastle being ‘strong contenders’.

The 6ft 3′ attacker is tall, versatile and someone we looked at during his time at Roma, with Sky Italy reporting on a loan bid back in January.
