Huge injury blow as Isak and Murphy misses  training ahead of Wolves vs. Newcastle clash

Newcastle United has been hit by the injury bug once more.Due to injuries, Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak had to leave the game against Borussia Dortmund.

Alexander Isak of Newcastle United goes down injured

“Big blow” is how manager Eddie Howe describes the injuries that claimed the lives of Jacob Murphy and Alexander Isak during Newcastle United’s match against Borussia Dortmund.

Newcastle suffered their first Champions League defeat of the season, losing 1-0 at St. James’ Park to the Bundesliga team.

Due to injuries, midfielder Murphy and striker Isak both had to be replaced.

Howe told TNT Sports, “Jacob came off with what looks like a serious injury.”

“As it is, our squad is small. I think the most disappointing item of the evening was that.

It appears to be a relapse of his Isak’s groin issue, which is rather unfortunate. Jacob appears to have a major injury, possibly a dislocated shoulder.”

Isak, who has eight goals in 2023–24, was substituted for Callum Wilson in the starting lineup for Dortmund’s visit, but he was only on the field for fifteen minutes.

Jacob Murphy of Newcastle United goes off injured

After coming off the bench in the 65th minute, Murphy needed assistance leaving the pitch, and five minutes later, his jersey was being used as a makeshift sling.

As Newcastle’s injured list continues to grow, the two will be in the treatment room with defender Sven Botman and winger Harvey Barnes.

Barnes was sidelined for over three months due to a foot ailment, but he does not need surgery. Botman has missed Newcastle’s last six games due to a knee problem and may be out for another two weeks.

The Magpies will play Wolverhampton Wanderers and Arsenal in the Premier League, Manchester United in the Carabao Cup, and Dortmund in the Champions League in Germany during the next two weeks.

Newcastle United’s growing injury list

The two most recent Newcastle players to be added to the injury list are Isak and Murphy.

Due to a knee injury, defender Sven Botman has missed Newcastle’s previous six games and may be sidelined for a further two weeks.

Their 8-0 victory over Sheffield United in September resulted in a foot injury for winger Harvey Barnes, which sidelined him for around three months.

He doesn’t need surgery, but he stays in the treatment area.
