This has, therefore, caused some annoyance. It has even raised concerns about a few players’ potential staying on the squad. Dennis Allen, the team’s head coach, is certain that one certain player will stick around in the future.
Dennis Allen Thinks CB Marshon Lattimore Is Remaining
Saints CB Marshon Lattimore was the subject of trade rumors during the summer. Dennis Allen, the head coach, took some time this past weekend to address these rumors. At the Chateau Country Club in Kenner, Louisiana, there was a celebrity golf event that featured the New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame.
Allen had a conversation with Mike Triplett of New Orleans Football at that golf tournament. Allen disclosed in the exchange that he and Lattimore had a “good” discussion about Lattimore’s future with the team. Following their talk, Allen is certain that he and Lattimore will “go forward” in the 2024 season.
Marshon Lattimore Based on the Figures
For the past seven seasons, Lattimore has been an integral member of this Saints defense. This last offseason, trade rumors surfaced largely because of the nature of his deal.
In theory, he is under contract with the Saints through the conclusion of the 2028 campaign. Nonetheless, the Saints’ contract includes an opt-out option that they are free to use following the 2024 campaign.
Consequently, there were rumors that they might think about dealing Lattimore to a team that might want to rent him out.
What has he accomplished in his first seven years as an NFL player, then? Lattimore has 375 total tackles, five forced fumbles, and 15 interceptions.
New Orleans Saints Prospects
In 2024, the Saints will be under pressure to perform. Considering how dismal 2023 was for them, this season might be crucial for them. The future of New Orleans could be dire if the team declines any further in 2024.
But one of the main reasons the Saints allowed so few points per game the previous season was because of their pass defense. In 2023, opponents were limited to just 19.2 points per game thanks to an allowance of just 207.3 passing yards each game. For the Saints to make any progress the next season, Lattimore and the rest of the secondary will need to continue performing at this caliber.
