3 reasons for Michigan football fans to be thankful in 2023
We are two days away from Michigan football and Ohio State. It might be the biggest game in the history of the rivalry.
But right now, we are going to focus on all the things that Michigan football fans have to be thankful for this year on Thanksgiving.
I know it’s been a rough few weeks. Even with Michigan’s victories over Penn State and Maryland, the persistent, absurd claims that Michigan only won because it cheated, the Jim Harbaugh suspension, and the never-ending rumors are getting old.
My advice is not to worry about those people. In the end, Ohio State won the game, and speculation will not make that any different, just as Michigan fans are fixated on J.T.’s short stature.
Ryan Day can make all the excuses he wants. I would if I were him. He can’t, however, hide from 42-27 and 45-23. Signs or no signs, those were butt-kickings.
And nothing will ever wipe those memories from my head. So as you get ready to say your thanks today, from a Michigan football perspective, here’s what we have to be thankful for.
The wins over Ohio State
Hopefully, Michigan football makes it three in a row on Saturday. All bets are off without head coach Jim Harbaugh, even though the Wolverines are the favorite.
There are reasons to feel good and playing at home is one of them. J.J. McCarthy is another (more on that in a second). But looking back, Michigan football got two incredible wins over Ohio State in massive games in 2021 and 2022.
Like I said, who cares what rivals have to say? They just can’t admit that their team surrendered the line of scrimmage battle.
That’s what has always defined this rivalry. Get quarterback play, the running game, and frankly the line of scrimmage.
Michigan football has won that battle in the last two years. That’s why it won the game. We’ll see if that changes this year, but that’s the only way the Buckeyes are winning.
