Star lineman Zak Zinter of Michigan was taken off due to a leg injury.
Detroit, Michigan Late in the third quarter on Saturday, Michigan’s standout offensive tackle Zach Zinter was taken off the field due to a significant injury to his left leg. The game was against Ohio State.
Later on in the day, Zinter’s mother shared on Facebook that Zak shattered his tibia and fibula and had surgery on Saturday night to treat the fractures. While he was at the ER, she said, the Michigan team FaceTimed him from the locker room.
“Many thanks to all of the hundreds of fans, relatives, and friends who have been in touch!” Written by Tiffany Zinter. “Know that we’ll read them as soon as we have a chance. We are really overwhelmed with love! Positively, he has a 3-0 record versus OSU.
Later, Zinter posted a picture of himself recovering after surgery on social media, together with his parents and coach Jim Harbaugh. The message read, “Surgery went fantastic, Love TEAM 144!!” I appreciate you all having my back and finishing strong! I’ll return stronger than before. “See you in Indianapolis!”
As Zinter was blocking an 18-yard pass from tight end AJ Barner to quarterback J.J. McCarthy with 2:19 remaining in the first and the score tied at 17, his leg gave way. Gamers made a hurried move for a medical waggon.
Medical staff placed Zinter onto a cart and drove him to a nearby hospital while the crowd screamed, “Let’s go Zak.” Sherrone Moore, the offensive line coach and interim head coach at Michigan, said he spoke with Zinter’s mother and got “some great news.”
Moore predicted that “he’ll recover and be ready to go down the road at some time.”
Blake Corum of Michigan scored the game’s winning goal and held up the numbers five and six to honour Zinter, who has made 42 starts and only missed one game in his Wolverines tenure.
“My man is Zach. “He’s just another man who returned for unresolved matters,” Corum remarked. It ached to see him go down in the previous game. really moving to witness what he was going through on the ground. But we managed to get together. The following play, presto—we knew we had to do it for him. I have no doubt that he will return, stronger than ever, as one of the country’s top guards.”
Quarterback J.J. McCarthy remarked, “At that time, seeing the expression in everybody’s eyes, watching everybody rally together; it was spiritual, honestly, just like witnessing that.” “When that happened, a different drive emerged from everyone.”
Zinter, a third-year starter from North Andover, Massachusetts, was selected to the first team of the Big Ten in 2022 and the second team in 2021. He was a part of Michigan’s winning offensive line that led the country to consecutive Joe Moore trophies. This season, Zinter has started every game at right guard and is a serious contender for All-America recognition.
Correct tackleWith Zinter hurt, senior Terrence Jones joined the game as right tackle, and Karsen Barnhart moved to right guard.
