Demon Deacons: Michigan offers Wake Forest wide receiver transfer as…

Banks, a former three-star talent out of St. Frances Academy in the 2020 class, has spent the previous four seasons as a member of the Demon Deacons. In his first two years of college, he only had six receptions. However, as a junior in 2022, he made tremendous progress, accounting for 42 receptions for 636 yards and nine touchdowns. He received the title of ACC All-Honorable Mention for his efforts.

Banks saw an increase in receptions to 59 and receiving yards to 653 in the previous season, but he only scored four touchdowns. The season began with him scoring three touchdowns in the first three weeks; he did not score again until Week 13 against Syracuse. He was a big focal point of Wake Forest’s passing attack, though, as he caught at least five passes in seven of the 11 games he played this year.

The Wolverines are obviously pursuing a bigger-bodied wide receiver out of the portal this cycle, as evidenced by their offer of former Indiana wide out Devon McCulley (6-foot-5, 200 pounds), who is taller than Banks (6-foot-4, 205 pounds). This makes sense because, aside from Cornelius Johnson, who will be joining the NFL after this season, the team does not currently have a proven bigger-bodied receiver.

In addition, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Vanderbilt, Purdue, and Notre Dame, where he will make his official visit this weekend, are all interested in recruiting Banks. The 247Sports portal rankings have him ranked No. 61 overall and No. 15 at wide receiver.
