Manchester United and Liverpool have both contacted Bayern Munich over midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, Fabrizio Romano has reported – but there is a problem involved.

The Reds have reignited their interest in the Netherlands midfielder following their failure to sign Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have agreed a fee with Stuttgart to sign Japan international Wataru Endo, with the defensive midfielder reportedly travelling to Anfield to undergo a medical.

And reports in the Netherlands claim that they are interested in signing Fiorentina and Morocco star Sofyan Amrabat, although no bid has been placed as of yet.

Liverpool are tracking a number of midfielders following a raft of summer departures in the position, having already signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

But any attempts to bring in Gravenberch have hit a stumbling block, Romano has revealed.

Taking to Twitter, Romano has revealed that both Liverpool and United have contacted Bayern Munich ‘to be informed’ of Gravenberch’s situation at the Allianz Arena.

The 21-year-old made 24 appearances for Bayern last season in the Bundesliga, but the majority of those came from the bench.

However, Romano adds that, despite his lack of playing time, Bayern do not want to sell him at this stage.

He wrote: “Manchester United and Liverpool called again this week to be informed about Ryan Gravenberch situation.

“Understand Bayern position remains the same as of today – no intention to sell Gravenberch.”

As well as Gravenberch, Endo and Amrabat, Liverpool have also been linked with a move for Crystal Palace star Cheick Doucoure.

According to the London Evening Standard, the Mali international is the Reds’ top target to fill the defensive midfield role vacated by Fabinho, and to compete with impending arrival Endo.

But it is reported that the Eagles will demand £70 million for one of their prized assets, after committing Chelsea-linked Michael Olise to a new four-year contract.
