Rico Henry’s availability to Man U and Erik ten Hag Response.

Man United 'make enquiry over Brentford's Rico Henry'

Manchester United have reportedly enquired about the availability of Brentford full-back Rico Henry.

Erik ten Hag has strengthened his squad this summer with the additions of Andre OnanaMason Mount and Rasmus Hojlund.

The Man United boss could still make at least one more signing before Friday’s deadline, with the Red Devils looking to recruit a new left-back following an injury to Luke Shaw.

The England international is expected to miss a number of months with a muscle injury, while his deputy Tyrell Malacia has been sidelined for the opening weeks of the season.

As a result, Diogo Dalot filled at left-back for Saturday’s 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest, highlighting Man United’s lack of options in that area of the pitch.

The Red Devils have been scouring the transfer market for possible solutions, leading to speculation over a possible loan deal for Chelsea‘s Marc Cucurella.

Sergio Reguillon of Tottenham Hotspur and Marcos Alonso of Barcelona have also been mentioned as possible replacements for the 20-time English champions.

According to the Daily Mail, Henry is another name being considered after Manchester United inquired about his situation and availability.

Henry, who joined Brentford from Walsall in 2016, helped the Bees finish ninth in the Premier League last season after starting 37 games.

The 26-year-old has played every minute of Brentford’s first three games of the season and is regarded as an important member of Thomas Frank’s squad.

Henry is in contention for his first England call-up after impressing for his club side, with Gareth Southgate set to name his squad this week.

While it is unclear whether Manchester United will intensify their pursuit, the Bees will be hesitant to sanction a sale in the final days of the transfer window.

Henry’s contract also has three years left on it, putting Brentford in a strong position during negotiations.
