After Rasmus Hojlund’s fantastic debut, Man Utd sent a reminder to Mykhaylo Mudryk.

Rasmus Hojlund had to wait for his Manchester United debut, but the striker from Denmark who joined from Atalanta did well in his first outing.

Paul Merson, a former Arsenal and England player, has cautioned Manchester United not to get too excited about Rasmus Hojlund’s first cameo after witnessing Mykhaylo Mudryk’s similarly impressive play last season.

In Sunday’s match against Arsenal, Hojlund made his United debut as a substitute. The Dane’s performance offered some hope despite the team’s 3-1 loss because he displayed some wonderful touches and contributed to Alejandro Garnacho’s goal that was disallowed.

Merson, though, wants the team and supporters to understand that they shouldn’t make too much of that performance. After all, Mykhaylo Mudryk, a winger for Chelsea, had a similarly energetic debut against Liverpool in the previous campaign but was unable to capitalize on his strong start.

Rasmus Hojlund appeared competent and formidable. Merson stated in his Sky Sports column that this only lasted for 20 minutes. “I last saw Mykhalo Mudryk at Liverpool in January for 20 minutes, and I haven’t seen him since.

United manager Erik ten Hag was impressed, though Merson was hesitant to give Hojlund much praise. “I thought he [Hojlund] was very good, he made a big impact,” the speaker added.

But I also want to acknowledge [Anthony] Martial because I thought he was excellent. For us, there are encouraging signals.

Gary Neville, a former United captain, too noted the advantages once the summer signing for United finally had a chance to shine. Prior to completing his £72 million transfer to Atalanta, Hojlund sustained an injury during the preseason schedule, which required United to wait.

Neville commented on Sky Sports that Manchester United had not had a striker they could hit. “[Cristiano] Ronaldo wasn’t the typical target man, and neither are Martial or [Marcus] Rashford, but it appears that he will cause trouble. The fact that he is still learning the game is a plus.
