Despite Manchester United easily advancing to the next round in the Carabao Cup, Erik ten Hag cautioned his team not to lose focus.

With victories over Crystal Palace, Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro, and Anthony Martial, United made it two wins in a row following three straight losses. Ten Hag cautioned his players to concentrate on the next Premier League match against Palace at Old Trafford on Saturday, despite their improvement after such a dismal start to the season.

The United manager also issued a warning to young winger Garnacho, telling him that if he wants to earn a regular starting spot for United, he must contribute more.

“We dominated the game, had some good attacks, control in possession, and scored great goals,” claimed Ten Hag. We must build, catch up, and improve both the process and the results since we are aware that we are not in the position we desire. Avoid planning too far ahead. The most crucial game is the one coming next.

“The atmosphere is always positive, but there is always a sense of togetherness even when United is losing,” says the player.

Although Garnacho scored the game’s first goal, Ten Hag gave the 19-year-old a reality check by saying that when he had started in other games this season, he had not contributed.

You may recall that we played him at the beginning of the season, but he was unable to make a significant impact. He did, however, take some positive acts. Even when he isn’t playing well, he constantly poses a threat to the game.

He needs to understand that when he does his duty of defending, he will always have his opportunity and be decisive since he possesses excellent qualities. It’s not only off the mark, either. However, I want to see that he enters the box correctly to finish, like he did today.

But I believe that there is a lot of room for progress for a player of his age. Everyone likes him—the team, the fans, and even myself—but we also need to demand and push him because he has a very high acting level but needs to demonstrate it consistently.
