Manchester United are set to reject the latest offer for Harry Maguire from West Ham this summer transfer window, talkSPORT understands.

United have no interest in letting Maguire leave this summer now as a result of Raphael Varane’s injury.

The France international was injured against Nottingham Forest and could not come out for the second half, being replaced by Victor Lindelof.

West Ham were likely to test United’s resolve over Maguire another time before the end of the transfer window this week.

David Moyes believes the England international could be a huge asset to his side and had a £30million bid accepted earlier in the window.

But Erik ten Hag had wanted Maguire to stay, ending the prospect of a move, despite making it clear Lindelof is thrid-choice centre-back.

While it now remains to be seen how long Varane will be out for, United’s backline has already taken a hit after Luke Shaw was ruled out.

With new signing Mason Mount also on the sidelines, as well as new signing Rasmus Hojlund, Ten Hag cannot afford to see his squad further depleted.

As for Maguire, the defender would be happy to leave to play first-team football.

The 30-year-old had been prepared to take a pay cut in order to push through a transfer.

However, a move to West Ham now looks unlikely with United short on numbers in defence.

The injury to Varane leaves Lindelof, Lisandro Martinez and Eric Bailly as the only senior options in defence, while the latter is expected to leave for Saudi Arabia.

Jonny Evans is set to join on a short-term contract but he missed most of last season through injury last year at Leicester.

The Red Devils have been linked with other defenders throughout the summer including Benjamin Pavard and Jean-Clair Todibo, although the former is set to join Inter Milan.

However, it remains to be seen whether a new arrival will join before the end of the summer window on Friday night.
