Man Utd: RUSHED Contract for Marcus Rashford quotes a club legend

Paul Parker, a club veteran, claims that Manchester United overreached when they offered Marcus Rashford a new five-year contract in July.

Rashford reportedly attracted Paris Saint-Germain’s attention after scoring 30 goals in all competitions for Manchester United last season, which helped them win the EFL Cup and place third in the Premier League.

But United countered that by offering their academy product a lucrative five-year contract, making him, at £325,000 per week, the third-highest paid player at Old Trafford behind Raphael Varane and Casemiro.

Rashford – and indeed the rest of Man Utd – have got off to slower start this season, though, and Parker, who won the Premier League with the club in 1993 and 1994, thinks it was a mistake to give him such a deal.

‘Selfish player’

It’s taken people a while but now they’re finally seeing that he’s not contributing with anything, the former England right-back told.

He should be because he’s a fast winger with decent technical abilities, but in fact he’s just a selfish player who lives on the back of being good in February.

I believe that Man United acted hastily in awarding him this significant contract.

After enjoying a peak xTV of €82.7 million in late 2021, Rashford is still evaluated by FootballTransfers’ in-house algorithm at €62.3 million. Should PSG or anybody else make another bid for him, he should command a premium price.

Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, and Mason Mount were three of the most notable newcomers to Old Trafford during the bustling summer transfer market for United.

However, they were unsuccessful in their efforts to transfer England player Harry Maguire to West Ham because he reportedly refused to accept a wage reduction in order to transfer to East London.
