Spurs might be the target of a lucrative takeover bid following a significant Manchester United decision.Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of INEOS, and Sheikh Jassim, a financier from Qatar, were the two parties interested in purchasing Man United after the Glazers announced about a year ago that they were looking for “a thorough evaluation of strategic alternatives.”
Numerous updates have been provided over the last 12 months, but the situation has remained unclear as Jassim wants full ownership of the club, while the Glazers want to maintain some control. Fabrizio Romano claims that after further talks with the Glazers, Jassim received a response that led to a significant decision being made by his party, suggesting that the Qatari side may be losing patience.
The following was written by him on X, formerly Twitter: “Sheikh Jassim has presented a full cash bid, clearing all old debt, with zero new debt, for 100% of the Club.” He continued on YouTube, saying, “We always have to wait for the official measures, but that is the feeling. Right now, the takeover with the Qatari group is more than complicated.
In recent days, Sheikh Jassim and his group held fresh talks, debates, and negotiations over Manchester United with the advisors of the Glazer family. Sheikh Jassim also put forth a new proposal to purchase the Manchester United squad.
“The answer from the Glazers in recent days from this discussion was very clear, they said again no to the proposal of Sheikh Jassim.” Although Man United’s Premier League rivals, Tottenham, are undoubtedly impacted by the Qatari investment, there might be a more immediate effect felt in north London.
Journalist Mark Ogden of ESPN claims that if the Man United transfer falls through, Jassim and his group may target Tottenham. If this ends up happening, Spurs may be ready for a massive approach. “I think they’ve discovered over the years that Ligue 1 is just not big enough, but PSG was a great move [for the club’s Qatari owners] because it’s Paris, it’s a great city,” he said to The United Stand.
“They desire a Premier League presence. I was just informed by someone that the Qataris may purchase Tottenham instead of Manchester United if they decide to return. Three clubs can emerge if they are Abu Dhabi-owned (Manchester City), Saudi Arabian-owned (Newcastle United), and maybe Qatari-owned (Tottenham).
“Every year, it would be United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal fighting for fourth spot, which is quite a terrifying prospect for [them].” Tottenham does not have any plans to sell, but during the past few years, there has been much discussion about what will happen to Daniel Levy, the chairman of ENIC Group, and his future.
