Liverpool is close to agreeing a seismic deal with Man Utd, according to insiders.

According to reports, Liverpool and the maker of their uniforms, Nike, are about to reach an agreement that will enable Liverpool catch up to Manchester United’s massive contract with Adidas. The Red Devils and German company Adidas have a massive 10-year deal in place, with a total estimated value of £900 million. According to Football Insider, the Merseysiders want to improve on their current terms, which are now worth about £70 million after adding 20% of the earnings from apparel sales, in order to catch up to their league competitors. The current version of Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp appears to be more than exciting, despite the fact that we may not be in the best bargaining position given that we dropped out of the Champions League spots with a year left on our current contract with Nike.

Many commentators and fans can’t help but wonder whether we could be this year’s Arsenal and challenge Manchester City for the title after a busy summer window due to the impressive nature of our start in the Premier League, especially the level of control and dominance exercised against Aston Villa at the weekend. We can’t help but believe that our defense is lacking one or two key players to genuinely mount a title challenge, but we have every reason to be upbeat about our chances of returning to the coveted top four slots and solidifying our position as European heavyweights. You might make the case that Liverpool should benefit more from their kit agreement if you’re comparing deals with Manchester United.
