According to Spanish media, David de Gea might make a surprise return to LaLiga soon.
Since the two formally parted ways on June 30, neither the Spaniard nor Manchester United has had a very pleasant time. Indeed, United’s troubles this season have prompted some fans to advocate for De Gea’s recall after Andre Onana’s underwhelming performance in the humiliating 3-1 loss to Brighton.
While it has always been wishful thinking, the goalie could be on his way back to Spain. The 32-year-old is still a free agent, though he has apparently had many offers, all of which he has turned down.
De Gea to Betis?
That is, at least, according to Fichajes, which believes that Real Betis is considering a move for the free agent. Manuel Pellegrini’s team has had a poor start to the new LaLiga season, currently lying in a disappointing tenth place.
More concerning than their table position is the fact that only two teams, 18th-placed Granada and bottom-placed Almeria, have conceded more goals than the Seville club.
Betis’ need for a quality goalkeeper is obvious, the Spanish site says, and they cannot afford to wait until the January transfer window. Betis is particularly interested in signing David De Gea, a goalkeeper with great experience in the Premier League and with the Spanish national team.
The story of David De Gea at Betis has yet to be written, the report continues, but it seems that the green and white club are working hard to secure his signing and solve their problem in goal….
