Cardinals Head Coach Praises Dante Stills
Dante Stills, a former defensive lineman for West Virginia, was passed over during the draft and was chosen by the Arizona Cardinals in the sixth round. Though his professional career is still young, it appears like Arizona will be able to steal him in the late round.
This season, Stills has accumulated 33 tackles, five tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and 3.5 sacks in ten games (four starts). The former Mountaineer has become an important component of Arizona’s defensive strategy, and head coach Jonathan Gannon has lauded him for his work ethic earlier this week.
I don’t know of any player who has advanced further than him out of our rookie class, but he is a person who can be spoken about improving from where he was when he first arrived here to where he is today. His period of inactivity was followed by a period of activity, and his contributions to the team at that time have been invaluable in helping us play occasionally strong defense.
He actually works on getting better every week. When we talk to him about topics, he pays close attention to them as well and tells him to keep working on them. He becomes extremely aware during practice, and it manifests itself in the game. He’s performing incredibly well.”
