Graeme Shinnie brushes off Kris Boyd’s motivational remarks during Aberdeen vs. Rangers.
In an attempt to bounce back from their 6-0 thrashing at Celtic, Aberdeen will visit Rangers on Sunday. Kris Boyd of Sky Sports stated that the Dons have plenty of motivation to face the Ibrox team. Watch the match live on Sky Sports on Sunday at Pittodrie; kickoff is at 12 p.m.
Graeme Shinnie, the captain of Aberdeen, is optimistic about his team’s ability to win this weekend, but he has refuted Kris Boyd’s assertions that this is because they are playing Rangers.
The analyst from Sky Sports chastised the Dons for losing three goals in stoppage time during their 6-0 loss to Celtic in their final game before the international break.
Boyd blasted their poor display in Glasgow’s east end, saying that Barry Robson’s team would have no trouble at all rousing them up for the following game because Rangers are in town.
Ahead of Sunday’s game against Philippe Clement’s side, live on Sky Sports, Shinnie accepted the former Ibrox striker’s criticism.
I think he’s just stating the obvious a little bit. After being defeated 6-0, you feel let down, frustrated, and ashamed.
When you have these defeats, you have to take them on the chin. On the other hand, when we do not perform well in games, we have to accept the criticism and work to improve. On the plus side, we have had some excellent results away from home and have been praised for them.
When you have defeats like that, losing 6-0 against Celtic, you should expect criticism of the team.
Highlights from Celtic vs. Aberdeen’s Scottish Premiership match
The Dons captain was also quick to note that, regardless of their opponent, a response would be anticipated in their upcoming match.
The manager would, in my opinion, rally us for anything, particularly following a match like that. Players, you’re in the wrong sport if you don’t want to make up for a setback like that.
We have had a full week to prepare for this kind of game, so as players, we are all looking forward to it.
Aberdeen vs. Rangers
The sides will meet again at Hampden Park on December 17 in the Viaplay Cup final, but Shinne is firmly focused on Sunday’s clash at Pittodrie.
I do not think it will matter because the two games are so dissimilar. With one at Pittodrie and the other at Hampden, the atmosphere will be different. Our focus is fully on Sunday.
You’re at a club like Aberdeen for the big games; the stadium will be packed and noisy. You have to thrive on that and bring your personality to the games.

With 23 caps, Tom Lawrence was once one of the most important players in the country, but he hasn’t been capped since 2021; the move to the Rangers was meant to address this.
Rabbi Matondo made his comeback to the Wales team in September of last year, although he did not add to his 11 caps; his last game was in June of the previous year.
Going forward, each player brings something unique to the table, with Welsh coach and former Rangers employee Ceri Bowley being the only one to criticize Tom Lawrence’s creative abilities this week.
It’s common knowledge that Tom Lawrence, a dynamic midfield player with passing, dribbling, and long-range shooting skills, has been a major loss to the Rangers team in recent years.
Rangers supporters will be hoping to see more from the 29-year-old after he showed glimpses of his best play against Livingston prior to the break. If he can accomplish that, a return to the Wales roster is undoubtedly in the works.
Rabbi Matondo will make his injury comeback.
Regarding Rabbi Matondo, the winger’s injury-plagued recovery from a terrible first season at Ibrox is a major source of annoyance for Rangers supporters.
The winger, who was injured in September and came back to life earlier in the season, had a terrible debut season in Glasgow. He is now back in training.
Next year, on March 21 at home in the semi-final, Wales will play Finland; on March 26 at home in the final, which will pit Poland or Estonia against each other, will take place.
With four months to spare for Rangers stars Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo to make a claim at redemption, Wales will feel those are very winnable matches.
