After just six weeks at the Etihad Stadium, a club scouting manager for Manchester City left to take a new role elsewhere in the Premier League.
The most recent information relates to Mark Ridgeway, who was initially said to be planning to leave Wolves in early August. Transfer insider Fabrizio Romano initially revealed that the academy scout would be moving on to a new role at City.
At the time, the 2023 Treble winners called Ridegway’s hiring a “massive statement” in their effort to collaborate with the world’s top young talent. In fact, during his previous tenure with Arsenal, Ridgeway is credited with signing both Emile Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka.
Over the past 12 months, Manchester City’s academy and development system has undergone significant boardroom and coaching changes. The club announced in the summer that Thomas Krucken had been named the new Academy Director.
The extremely successful Jason Wilcox was replaced as Manchester City Academy Director by Krucken. It was announced during the previous season that Wilcox would be leaving the team at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 campaign in order to take a new position at Southampton.
