Nottingham Forest news from NottinghamshireLive, as the Reds prepare to face Manchester City this weekend.
Kyle Walker has cautioned Nottingham Forest about the terrifying pace of Manchester City teammate Jeremy Doku.
Following a 1-1 draw with Burnley, Forest will travel to the Etihad Stadium this Saturday (3pm) to play the league leaders. Steve Cooper’s team will be eager to get some momentum going, as they are only three points off of sixth place.
However, despite five consecutive victories, City has yet to go unblemished this season. Walker also believes that City’s summer signing Doku will present issues for the visitors.
The Belgian completed more dribbles than any player in the top five European leagues last season at Rennes. He also completed more take-ons than anyone bar Vinicius Junior and Lionel Messi.
Doku wreaked chaos at West Ham, where Pep Guardiola’s squad won 3-1 after a comeback. Walker, on the other hand, refuses to acknowledge that Doku will beat him over long distances.
I’m going to win!, Walker stated. He’ll do me over five yards, but I’ll catch him after 50 or 60 meters.
I believe you can tell that the speed is alarming in the previous two of games he’s played. As defenders, we have to try to predict what they’re going to do for the first five or ten yards because we don’t know what they’re going to do.
And when you’ve got that pace off the start of the starting block, it’s scary. I think he still needs to add more to his game, and I think he will do under this manager with the coaching that he does in the style of play that we play.
But to have that coming off the bench and to start matches, it’s a full-back’s worst nightmare.
