The former England international remarked on his Sky Sports podcast: “There’s no doubt that they’re going to have to make some adjustments these clubs.
“When you look at Burnley, it’s clear that they need to be stronger and more physically capable.
The quality in both categories is what makes the Premier League what it is, and that is the primary distinction between it and the Championship.
“They (the three promoted clubs) will need to pick things up quickly.
“They won’t lose faith in what they’re doing, but they may need to make a few adjustments to the Premier League’s rules and understand that teams in the past have had to make adjustments to get results and win points, as once you’re on a losing streak and you lose games, you start to wonder where your next victory will come from.
“I also believe that winning a football game for a promoted team in the Premier League is like an event, it’s like a huge occasion.
The clubs who advanced from last season are discovering that the league is tough, clinical, and challenging.
“I always believe that lesser league players often have the misconception that Premier League players are stronger, more physically fit, and tougher.
“But in reality, they learn that these attractive people have gorgeous hair, excellent boots, a lovely automobile, and they also work hard, are pretty powerful, and don’t play about.
This is what I believe the bottom three teams are discovering: not only are they unable to physically dominate the other teams, but the quality gap is also rather wide.
