Ex-Man Utd wonderkid who came through ranks with Rashford starts trial with Luton Town
Premier League newbies Luton Town could boost their slim survival hopes with the signing of a former Manchester United star currently on trial at Kenilworth Road
Former Manchester United star Axel Tuanzebe is on trial with Premier League newbies Luton Town.
Tuanzebe is still without a club after being released by the Red Devils earlier in the summer. The 25-year-old came through the youth ranks at Old Trafford with Marcus Rashford and made 37 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He spent time last season on loan at Stoke City in the Championship but an injury restricted him to just five appearances. He has also had three separate stints at Aston Villa in the past, plus a brief temporary spell at Napoli during the 2021-22 season.
However, after 17 years at United across all groups, he is now looking for a new club altogether following his release. Tuanzebe is said to have turned down several offers from Saudi Arabia during the summer, including one that has been described as life-changing.
He has been following an individual rehab program with a team of dedicated physios and coaches, so that he can reduce the risk of any more injuries. Tuanzebe has spent time at St George’s Park, where he completed his program injury free.
And there now appears to be light at the end of the tunnel for the defender in the form of Premier League first-timers Luton. The ex-England U21 star has received interest from clubs in the Premier League, Bundesliga, Turkish Super Lig and Saudi Arabia, but opted to train with the Hatters.
