Aston Villa defender Marvelous Nakamba has been linked to Luton Town.

Luton Town are on the brink of signing Marvelous Nakamba from Aston Villa on a permanent deal after a breakthrough in talks over their No1 target for the summer.

The Zimbabwe midfielder, 29, was on loan at Kenilworth Road for the second half of last season and made 20 appearances, including the Championship play-off final win at Wembley when a place in the Premier League was sealed.

Rob Edwards has been trying to strengthen his squad for the top flight and Nakamba returning in some capacity has been a priority, with an agreement now made over a fee for him to switch. With the formalities of the deal left, he could be signed in the next 48 hours.

Luton have signed Republic of Ireland winger Chiedozie Ogbene after his contract expired at Rotherham. Mads Andersen has arrived from Barnsley and Tahith Chong has signed from Birmingham.
