With the Premier League team’s engine room looking a bit light right now and the problem yet to be addressed, Virgil van Dijk has no complaints with supporters not being happy right now. Speaking to The Independent and other outlets, he said: “I can definitely understand it [fans’ negativity] in some ways.
“But I’m not a very negative person, so obviously it’s not in my mind to think like that.”
The Dutchman later went on to add: “And the way we have been playing, in possession really good, but defensively when you concede goals it’s not as good. I can understand some people having doubts.”
Liverpool fans are right to be frustrated
Just when it looked like Liverpool had solved their midfield issue, they then go and lose Henderson and Fabinho.
The Reds, of course, signed Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai to improve their engine room, but that is now unlikely to be enough after so many exits this summer.
The club are trying to fix things by bringing in Lavia. But the fact that that has not been done yet with Klopp’s men taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday will be a source of more frustration.
It does not look like Van Dijk and his team-mates are panicking yet, though. It is clear that Liverpool still need midfield reinforcements, but they are a good enough side to take all three points against the Blues if the first XI is on it this weekend.
Klopp will probably be concentrating on that fixture for the time being while his recruitment team and the ones with the money at Anfield work on the Lavia deal and other potential names.
